Biography
Tommy Langaker (born February 8, 1994) is a Norwegian submission grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished European competitors in the history of the sport. Hailing from Haugesund, Norway, he represents Wulfing Academy and Kimura/Nova Uniao under the coaching of Jose Carlos, having also trained extensively with Rafael and Guilherme Mendes at Art of Jiu-Jitsu in California.
Langaker made history in 2023 by becoming the first Norwegian to win an IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, claiming gold in the middleweight (79.5 kg) division. His extensive list of accomplishments includes the 2020 IBJJF European Championship (gi), the 2019 Abu Dhabi World Pro Championship, the 2023 European No-Gi Championship, and multiple ADCC European Trials gold medals (2022, 2024). He earned World Championship bronze in 2021 and silver in 2018.
In ONE Championship, Langaker has established himself as a premier submission grappling competitor, earning two $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses with victories over Renato Canuto and Uali Kurzhev. He challenged Kade Ruotolo twice for the ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title in 2023 and 2024. With a career record exceeding 96 wins including 66 submissions, his near-70% submission rate makes him one of the most finishing-oriented grapplers of his generation. Known as "The Norwegian Nightmare," Langaker was named 2020 Jits Magazine Male Grappler of the Year in the gi division.
