Fabio Holanda leads Brazilian Top Team Canada in Montreal; his long coaching role includes Brianna Ste-Marie's shared black-belt promotion.

Biography

Fabio Holanda's jiu-jitsu story began in Natal in 1994, when friends invited him to a class. He received his black belt in 2001, then moved to Rio de Janeiro to live and train at Brazilian Top Team. In 2004, he relocated to Montreal. That move led to a long role in the city's jiu-jitsu community. A 2026 profile reported that Holanda had run a Brazilian Top Team affiliate in Montreal for more than two decades, while Brazilian Top Team identified him as BTT Canada's leader in a 2019 report. Hayabusa has described him as the team's head instructor. Holanda told Hayabusa that the nickname "Mastermind" came from an MMA manager who saw him making game plans. His teaching is visible in the career of Brianna Ste-Marie. In December 2021, Holanda and Leonardo Saggioro promoted her to black belt after she developed at BTT Canada headquarters in Montreal. Another profile describes the two coaches as having guided her through the belts. The accounts place both men in her development at the Montreal academy. Holanda remains part of BTT Canada's leadership in Montreal. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation's club page lists him as the person in charge and an administrator.
