Ramon Lemos

Ramon Lemos opened a Nova União academy in Rio Claro, taught the Mendes brothers from white belt, and coached UAE national-team groups.

Biography

As a teenager, Ramon Lemos followed training partners to Nova União's headquarters, where, according to BJJ Heroes, he trained with André Pederneiras. Around 2000, the same source says, Pederneiras and Vitor Ribeiro invited him to open a Nova União academy in Rio Claro. Rio Claro became the setting for a longer stretch of work. In 2010, Graciemag described Lemos leading the Atos Jiu-Jitsu training group there ahead of the World Championship. The report also said that Guilherme and Rafael Mendes had been his students since white belt, placing Lemos in the teaching behind their early development. BJJ Heroes says that Lemos left Brasa during its 2008 split and created Atos with André Galvão and Gustavo Campos. His coaching later extended to the United Arab Emirates. Khaleej Times reported that UAEJJF appointed him to coach its under-18 national team in 2015 and moved him to the senior squad the following year. Gulf News identified him as the national team's head coach in 2020, overseeing summer-camp sessions while staff assessed players for future national-team work. In March 2022, it reported that he led the men's coaching role at a 26-athlete camp preparing for the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
