Andreas Leonardo Borch Høiaas spent years as a competitor and instructor inside Frontline Academy Hasle before earning his black belt under Eduardo 'Teta' Rios in 2024. The promotion arrived after a long run as one of the senior coloured belts in the Hasle room, where he taught classes and competed across the European IBJJF circuit.
He sits within the second wave of Norwegian black belts coming directly out of the Frontline pipeline — the practitioners whose entire BJJ life has been inside the system Eduardo Rios built, rather than older grapplers who pivoted into it.
For the Hasle room specifically, Høiaas's promotion is part of the slow turnover of senior belts that keeps the academy running: today's student becoming tomorrow's coach.
