Vitor Oliveira

Vitor “Vitinho” Oliveira teaches children and adults at Ronin, became its co-owner by 2017 and won his 2019 World Master division.

Biography

Vitor Henrique Silva Oliveira, known as Vitinho, is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu whose path runs from a childhood start in Teresópolis to becoming an instructor and co-owner at Ronin Training Center in Columbus. Born in Teresópolis in 1986, Oliveira began training at the Pitbull academy at age eight. In a 2013 interview, he said he began jiu-jitsu in 1994 under Adilson Lima “Bitta” and received his black belt from him. Oliveira also said that he began training with GFTeam under Julio Cesar in 2009. He described his takedown game as something learned primarily through jiu-jitsu rather than judo, while crediting Julio Cesar with helping him improve it. Digitsu reports that Oliveira moved to the United States in 2011 to work as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor. It says he first taught at Ronin Training Center in Columbus and had become a co-owner of the academy by 2017. Competition runs alongside that teaching story. BJJ Heroes records Oliveira as an adult world silver medalist in 2015 and a World Master champion in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Official IBJJF results list him in first place in the Master 1 male black-belt middleweight division at the 2019 World Master. The IBJJF athlete page also lists him as a GF Team Ohio black belt and records a second-place finish in the Master 2 middleweight division at the 2024 World Master. At Ronin, Oliveira’s contribution extends beyond his own results: the academy describes him as teaching both children and adults and helping students make progress toward their goals.
