Biography
Knut Roska came to BJJ via Kyokushin Karate and the older Norwegian MMA scene — coaching at Kamphuset in Oslo under Marcelo "Yogui" Santiago before stepping out to start something of his own. In 2015 he co-founded Bærum MMA in Sandvika with Daniel Snekvik, putting another serious grappling and MMA room on the western edge of greater Oslo.
A brown belt on the Norwegian BJJ ladder, Roska's contribution is largely on the building-it side: opening and running a Sandvika gym in a part of the country whose BJJ map was, until relatively recently, much thinner than Oslo proper.
His Kyokushin background — full-contact karate, hard kicks, no flinching — still shows in the gym's identity, which is closer in temperament to the older, scrappier Norwegian MMA rooms than to the cleaner sport-BJJ academies that dominate the IBJJF result sheets.
