Faustino Neto

Faustino “Pina” Neto is a Manaus jiu-jitsu black belt who led Clube Pina’s social project and team.

Biography

Faustino “Pina” Neto is a black-belt jiu-jitsu teacher in Manaus associated with Clube Pina, where he led a children’s social project and guided a competition team. Much of the documented account of the club comes from Globo’s Amazonas reporting. In a 2010 interview, SESI instructor Fábio Pinheiro named Neto among the city’s black-belt teachers. Diário do Amazonas later listed him among the teachers in Osvaldo Alves’s lineage in Amazonas. Globo’s 2013 report identified Neto as the leader of Clube Pina’s social project in the Japiim neighborhood. It reported that about 200 children attended and that the state sports department supplied 15 uniforms and four mats. The club also built a record in team competitions: it won the 2014 Copa Cidade de Manaus with 441 points, led the 2015 Amazonas professional championship with 549, and took the 2016 Copa Cidade title with 456. In 2017, it topped the FAJJPRO academy standings with 1,779 points for a fourth consecutive season. Manuel Ribamar has recalled training with Pina at Clube Pina before moving to Europe after receiving his purple belt. A 2013 TXMMA profile described Pina as a longtime coach and mentor to Carlos Diego Ferreira. Globo credited Pina and Júnior Cardoso with helping develop Alex Martins; it separately named Bibiano Fernandes and Ferreira among athletes developed by Clube Pina. The UAE Jiu Jitsu Federation lists Faustino Martins Neto as the person in charge of Clube Pina. The club was still a training venue in 2025, when two Swiss competitors prepared there under Pina before a Manaus event. That November, the Amazonas legislature invited him to the table at a special session honoring local jiu-jitsu and presented him with a commemorative plaque.
