Bruno Carvalho grew up in Salvador, Bahia, and was awarded his black belt in 2004 by his uncles — the family that anchored his early jiu-jitsu. Before the move to Europe he fought as a professional Vale Tudo competitor in Brazil, carrying the rougher, no-nonsense edge of that era onto the mats.
In 2006 he relocated to Europe and eventually settled in Drammen, where he founded Team Carvalho BJJ as the academy's head coach. The school has since become one of the most established BJJ programmes in the Drammen region, with affiliated clubs in Thailand and the United States feeding back into a small but well-connected international network.
Carvalho's style — pressure-based, with Bahian Vale Tudo roots — has shaped a steady output of Norwegian competitors and instructors over nearly two decades on the mats in Drammen.
