Thomas Hytten — 'Moon Lee' — has been competing professionally in MMA since 1998, with a pro record of 9-11 built across an era when Scandinavian MMA barely existed as an industry. In 2003 he was a co-founder of Frontline Academy at Bogstadveien 27B in Oslo, alongside Trond Saksenvik, John-Olav Einemo and Joachim Hansen — the room that, three years later, Eduardo 'Teta' Rios would inherit and transform.
His brown belt understates his place in the story. He trained Mohsen Bahari, Joachim Hansen and John-Olav Einemo at various points, a list that effectively covers the founding generation of Norwegian MMA. He now runs Submission Wrestling and MMA classes at Oslo Fight Center.
Hytten is one of the true Scandinavian grappling pioneers — the figure standing at the door Frontline walked through.
