Selma Essahli Vik, born around 2001, has been building one of the cleanest young European records of her cohort out of Team Trondheim BJJ. At the 2022 IBJJF European Championship she won purple-belt middleweight gold and absolute silver; the following year in Paris she took gold at the IBJJF European Championship after outscoring her four opponents 27-0 with two submissions on the way.
Polaris brought her into the professional no-gi conversation. She submitted her debut opponent with a head-and-arm choke and has since returned at Polaris 31 and Polaris 35, fighting on the same cards as established European pros.
For Trondheim, a city traditionally on the edge of the Norwegian BJJ map, Vik is the practitioner who has put the local academy on European result sheets in her division.
