Samy Muhyed din Al Jamal

Samy Al Jamal is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and coach in Amman associated with Source MMA and FIT Jiu-Jitsu.

Biography

Samy Al Jamal is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and coach in Amman whose work there spans Source MMA and FIT Jiu-Jitsu. BJJ Heroes credits Fabrício Martins with coaching him through every belt, including the black belt it says he received in 1999. It dates the opening of Source MMA, with Tarek Kalimat, to 2006. Al Jamal led a Source team camp in Jordan in 2010 that included training at Petra. Graciemag reported that the team had awarded blue belts to 62 members of Jordan's security forces. The following year, eight women at The Source organized and paid for a seminar with Cassuza Fornari; Al Jamal made the mat available and supported their initiative. In a 2013 interview and another updated in 2022, his student Rana Qubbaj traced her first encounter with his coaching to a kickboxing class at her school and credited him with guiding her jiu-jitsu and competition preparation. His IBJJF results include a 2012 European title in the Master 3 black-belt featherweight division and a 2021 World Master title in Master 5 featherweight. In a separate competition, the Ju-Jitsu International Federation's 2019 world championship results placed him first in the Master 4 advanced under-69 kg division, representing the Jordan Jiu-Jitsu Federation. In June 2025, Al Jamal's FIT Jiu-Jitsu school partnered with the Brazilian Embassy in Amman, the Guimarães Rosa Institute and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce for a jiu-jitsu event. A 2026 IBJJF result listed him under Samy Al Jamal - FIT Jiu-Jitsu and placed him joint third in the Master 6 black-belt lightweight division at the South America Master International.
