Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia

Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia is a seventh-degree coral belt whose teaching career connects Kioto Academy, Beverly Hills and his son Vinny.

Biography

Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia’s path into Brazilian jiu-jitsu began with another martial art. In a 2015 interview, he said he started judo at age five and later trained at Kioto Academy under Master Mansur while attending college in Rio de Janeiro. Di Lucia said Joe Moreira invited him to teach at Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club in 1997. According to his account, he took over the gym two years later. He described the academy’s founding idea as bringing leading fighters from different styles together to teach, while keeping Brazilian jiu-jitsu as its main program. Valor Jiu Jitsu Club identifies him as a seventh-degree coral belt. His competitive record provides a concise marker of that period: BJJ Metrics lists him in first place at Master 2000 in the Black / Master 2 / Male / Medium Heavy division and at Master 2006 in the Black / Master 3 / Male / Medium Heavy division, both for Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu Club. Di Lucia’s role as a teacher also extends to his family. Valor Jiu Jitsu Club identifies Vinny Di Lucia as his son and as a third-degree black belt under him.
