Israel Gomes de Oliveira

Israel Gomes de Oliveira is a Brazilian BJJ black belt and Muay Thai coach who co-founded Killer Bees and leads its Melbourne, Florida, academy.

Biography

Israel Gomes de Oliveira is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and Muay Thai coach from Curitiba, Brazil, who helped found the Killer Bees team and now leads both disciplines at American Killer Bees HQ in Melbourne, Florida. Most of the account of his early training and work comes from the academy he leads. He began capoeira and taekwondo at nine. In his account, he joined Curitiba's Chute Boxe academy at thirteen to train in Muay Thai under Rudimar Fedrigo. Gomes later headed Chute Boxe's Jardim Shaffer and Batel gyms. Rumi Contractor joined a Muay Thai group Gomes led in Curitiba in 1997. Gomes, Anderson Silva and Rodrigo Vidal helped establish the Killer Bees team. His academy dates Gomes's move to the United States to 2004. Carlos Lima awarded Gomes his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. Competing for Gracie Elite Team at the 2012 Atlanta International Open, Gomes finished second in the Master 2 black-belt light division. The academy records him teaching martial-arts combat training at Fort Campbell, Tennessee, from 2014 to 2018. He established American Killer Bees HQ in Melbourne, where he is head coach for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai. Records from other practitioners trace part of Gomes's teaching line. In a 2015 account, Anthony Mitchell identifies Jarrett Becks as a black belt under Gomes and says Gomes awarded Becks his first black-belt degree in 2013. Cade Brown's public lineage places Gomes immediately before Brown, and the lineage published by Luis Martinez's academy places Gomes immediately before Martinez.
