Damoun Nassehi is a doctor by profession and a BJJ practitioner by long habit. He trained under Shimon Mochizuki — Denmark's first BJJ black belt — at Arte Suave Copenhagen before moving to Norway and founding Kimura Egersund in 2010. That academy was, at the time, the only serious organised BJJ programme in the immediate Egersund area.
The most consequential thing it did was give Espen Mathiesen his first BJJ instruction. Mathiesen would later become one of the most internationally successful Norwegian competitors of his generation, but he started where most do: in a small local club with a blue belt running the room. Nassehi was that blue belt.
His belt rank understates his place in the story. He is one of the people who built the first floor of the modern Norwegian competition pipeline.
