Tim Shears

Tim Shears trained with Wellington “Megaton” Dias before opening a school and later promoting two named students.

Biography

Tim Shears began training in the gi with Wellington “Megaton” Dias in 1994. In a 2009 profile, GracieMag reported that he opened his first JKD/BJJ school in 1997, joined Gracie Barra in 2002, and received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Jr. in 2006. Gary Hsueh received his black belt from Shears and Marcio Feitosa in 2009, while John Tompkins received his from Timothy Shears and the Gracie Barra Association in 2011. Their promotions form a later part of Shears’s teaching story.
