Marthin Hamlet Nielsen reached MMA with the kind of wrestling résumé most fighters spend a career trying to imitate: seven Norwegian wrestling championships, fifteen World Cup medals, and bronze at both the European and World Junior wrestling championships. That base feeds directly into his BJJ at Frontline Academy and his training time with the Blackzilians, where his purple belt is anchored to genuine top control.
He became the first Norwegian to compete in PFL, building a light heavyweight record of around 9-3 and reaching the 205-pound championship in 2021, where he lost a title bout to Antonio Carlos Jr. — a match that put a Norwegian fighter one step away from a PFL world title.
For Norwegian MMA, his PFL run opened a second tier-one promotion to the country alongside the UFC.
