Marcos Chuck

A Búzios teacher who guided Igor Rodrigues to black belt and helped build regional jiu-jitsu events.

Biography

Marcos Chuck is a jiu-jitsu teacher and organizer whose work in Búzios has included academy teaching, student development, and regional competitions. Rio Grappling Club's current directory lists Marco Chuck as its Búzios representative. Eduardo Carriello recalled that by 1995 he and his friend and partner Marco Chuck were teaching in São Pedro da Aldeia after their instructors, Roberto Atalla and Jonatas Loures, left the city. By 2002, Igor Rodrigues had begun jiu-jitsu at Chuck's academy in Búzios. Rodrigues says he won important titles under Chuck and received his black belt from him after winning the Brazilian Nationals at brown belt, before moving to Checkmat in 2009. Chuck also organized competitions in Búzios. A municipal report dated 19 April 2007 named him as the organizer of Arena Búzios 2007, a two-day event with athletes from several Brazilian states. A 2017 Globo Esporte report again identified him as an Arena Jiu-Jitsu organizer in Búzios and noted that he had also led Búzios Fight Night, described as the city's first professional MMA event.
