In September 2026, Itumo recalled starting martial arts after secondary school in 2012 and amateur MMA in 2022. Testing different disciplines and self-defence attracted the One Tribe coach, who favoured ground work within an all-round game. Fighting could not support him financially; a day job fitted alongside opponent study, conditioning and training: twice daily three days weekly, otherwise once except Sundays. He sought public and sponsor investment enabling full-time careers.
