Fredson Paixão is a former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion and a black belt under Alexandre Paiva. A successful athlete during his competitive years, Paixão later became widely known in the sport for his work as an instructor, in particular for his partnership with the legendary Wanderlei Silva, whom he assisted in establishing the Wanderlei Silva MMA Team, which grew into one of the most successful MMA camps in the sport.
