Emilie Maxine M. H. Thylin

Maxine Thylin is a Swedish Gracie Humaitá black belt who won the 2017 featherweight World Championship.

Biography

Maxine Thylin is a Swedish Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and Gracie Humaitá representative who won the 2017 black-belt featherweight world title. Thylin competed in Japanese ju-jutsu before adding BJJ to her training in 2008 under Ricard Carneborn, Ralf Carneborn, and Marcelo Yogui. Her preparation later extended beyond Sweden: she repeatedly traveled to Letícia Ribeiro's Gracie Humaitá South Bay academy for long World Championship camps. In 2015, Thylin won the World Championship at brown belt and received her black belt from Ribeiro. Two years later, she won the black-belt featherweight world title in Long Beach. Her other documented 2017 results include silver at the European and Pan Championships and gold at the European No-Gi Championship. The world title made her the second Swedish athlete to win the championship at black belt, after Janni Larsson.
