Biography

Eduardo Augusto Cavalcante Monteiro (born 1978) is a jiu-jitsu black belt from Fortaleza, Brazil, who trained under Guilherme “Caju” Rocha and competed for Gracie Fortaleza. Most of the biographical details here come from BJJ Heroes. Monteiro began jiu-jitsu at 18 with Eduardo Rocha and stayed with him through brown belt. He later trained with Rocha's brother Guilherme, who awarded him his black belt in December 2006. At university, Monteiro also took up judo in 2000 and competed for the school on a scholarship. A Graciemag report from the first Desafio Black Belt in Fortaleza records Monteiro defeating Caio Magalhães in a black-belt match for Gracie Fortaleza.
