Chad Fields

Chad Fields describes a training partnership aimed at finding weaknesses before competition.

Biography

Chad Fields describes a goal of training partners finding each other’s weaknesses before competition. On his website, he dates his black-belt promotion by Roberto Traven to December 22, 2016. He connects preparation on the mat with his approach to business, and offers private lessons, workshops and seminars. His experience of being coached appears in an EPTS testimonial. Fields recalls training with Scott Shetler during his last year living in Atlanta, praising an approach tailored to the demands of his sport. He credits that work with increasing his strength. His three-volume Death From Above course outlines a series of connected problems for the player on top. The written syllabus starts with smash passes and knee cuts to get past an opponent’s guard, then discusses answers to the lockdown leg entanglement before turning to attacks. Collar and lapel chokes use the gi, the training uniform; another chapter covers an armlock against choke defense. In April 2025, the Jamaica Observer named Fields among the announced guests for Heaven Jiu Jitsu’s opening in St Andrew. Demonstrations, interactive seminars and a meet-and-greet were planned.
