Caio Terra

Caio Terra’s profile traces early home-mat study, ten consecutive No-Gi World titles, and a long teaching path.

Biography

Caio Terra’s own account of Brazilian jiu-jitsu begins with resistance. He says he started in 2002, at 16, after his mother worried for the safety of a smaller teenager; he did not initially enjoy it. When access to the gym was restricted, he built a mat room at home and, by his account, trained there four or five times a day while studying jiu-jitsu. He later trained under Paulo Mauricio Strauch and Reyson Gracie, receiving his black belt in 2006 after three years of dedicated training. The competitive landmarks are precise. Terra says he won IBJJF Black Belt World Championship titles in the gi in 2008 and 2013. Separately, an official 2026 IBJJF seminar listing describes him as holding ten consecutive No-Gi World titles. Teaching is also part of the chronology. Terra says he began instructing in 2004, moved to the United States in 2007 to teach and train at Cesar Gracie Academies, opened an academy in San Jose in 2011, started the Caio Terra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association in 2012, and launched Caio Terra Online in 2014. The association’s resource page describes a three-part curriculum: CTA for beginners, CTB for retention and broader development, and CTC for higher-level colored-belt instruction. The Caio Terra Social Project states that it aims to assist people pursuing Brazilian jiu-jitsu dreams and prepare them for life beyond the mat. Its sponsorship section says that, with donor help, it will sponsor and mentor people willing to work and make sacrifices toward their goals.
