Brianna Ste-Marie

Canadian black belt and Mizu Studio competitor who won 2022 ADCC silver and World No-Gi lightweight titles in 2022 and 2024.

Biography

Brianna Ste-Marie is a Canadian black belt who chose jiu-jitsu over rugby at nineteen, then won silver in the women's under-60-kilogram division at the 2022 ADCC World Championship and the World No-Gi lightweight titles in 2022 and 2024. Born in Montreal in 1996, Ste-Marie spent years playing rugby before beginning jiu-jitsu at university. She described the fall of 2021 as her breakout: at brown belt, she won the World No-Gi lightweight division and took bronze in the absolute division. Fabio Holanda and Leonardo Saggioro promoted her to black belt in December 2021. The same IBJJF profile says she trained at Brazilian Top Team Canada headquarters in Montreal. The current IBJJF athlete page lists her association as Mizu Studio. In 2022, she won the black-belt World No-Gi lightweight title by submitting every opponent. She also reached the final of the women's under-60-kilogram division at the 2022 ADCC World Championship, finishing with the silver medal. Her gi results included bronze at the 2023 black-belt World Championship. In 2024, she won three lightweight matches at the IBJJF Crown to take her first major black-belt gi title. The same year, the IBJJF results page records her as World No-Gi lightweight champion and open-class silver medalist.
