Angel Debbarma

Angel Debbarma was part of a Combat Academy team whose routine combined training, client work and travel support.

Biography

In September 2021, Angel Debbarma was named among The Combat Academy’s competing fighters in an Eastern Mirror interview with coach Khriemelie Metha. Metha said he and Imkongsunep Jamir trained the team. His account shows how the fighters’ days combined practice and work. They began with a group session in the morning and earned money by taking private training clients. The academy provided the team with free training and helped with travel costs when needed. The Morung Express reported that he took bronze at the 2022 AIMMAA National Championship in Hyderabad, where injury forced his withdrawal at the semifinal stage. That was an MMA event. In June 2024, the newspaper named him among The Combat Academy athletes at the AI-RENG Fight League in Shillong. He won silver in the BJJ under-70 kg category on 8 June.
