Ángel Daniel Forero

Ángel Daniel Forero teaches at 123 Jiu Jitsu in Maturín, combining personalised instruction with preparation for regional and national competition.

Biography

Ángel Daniel Forero is a black belt and teacher at 123 Jiu Jitsu in Maturín. The academy's account of his training identifies Edgar Echeverría as the teacher who awarded his black belt, with certification by Renato Tavares. His work preparing competitors predates the academy. A November 2011 report, reprinted by the sports blog Submission Kombat, placed him alongside Echeverría and Leonardo Favia on the technical commission of Venezuela Jiu Jitsu Team-Monagas. The commission was helping prepare athletes for the Gladiadores de Venezuela circuit. Forero's role was part of a shared regional effort to get competitors ready for those events. 123 Jiu Jitsu dates its foundation to 2019 and identifies Forero as a founder and instructor. Its classes bring together children, young people and adults across jiu-jitsu, grappling and MMA. Teaching is shared with a roster that also includes Favia, Hang Lee Chang and Manuel Brazón. In its description of the method, the academy emphasises progressive instruction adapted to each student's needs and goals. Its stated grading criteria combine technical knowledge, time practising and competition performance. Mutual support, respect and friendship are also part of the environment it says it aims to provide. A May 2022 report on a Monagas delegation returning from national competition in Carabobo gave a concrete example of the support behind that work. Forero thanked the El Niño Simón foundation for helping athletes take part in the qualifying event. He also described the qualified team preparing for another national competition in Caracas. His comments concerned both the opportunity to compete and the preparation still ahead. In November 2025, a press-release report published by La Prensa de Monagas named Forero and Brazón as the academy's founders and coaches. It credited the team with 42 medals at the Venezuelan circuit in Caracas, 29 of them in children's divisions, and second place in the children's ranking with 157 points. Forero attributed his students' progress to consistent guidance, effort and discipline.
