Andy Bartholomew

A Sabah coach contributing MMA and BJJ training to Discover Muay Thai’s 2025 youth programme.

Biography

Andy Bartholomew was part of the coaching team behind Sabah fighter Davendra Kumar. A 2015 Warriors.asia report identified him as Kumar’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach, alongside Rayner Kinsiong for MMA and Muay Thai and Ryandell Joe Kitingan for boxing. In March 2024, Daily Express reported that he had organized The Founders Seminar, where Allen Chong and Pedro Falbo shared their experience. He described reconnecting practitioners with Sabah’s BJJ roots and raising local standards as its aims, while also encouraging BJJ for fitness and self-defense. Warriors.asia’s 2025 coverage placed him in a different teaching setting: Discover Muay Thai’s Sabah Batch 12. He guided a newly introduced MMA component, and the report also identified a BJJ session with him. The trainees lived together for four months, with combat-sport training forming part of a broader programme. Alongside it were English and mathematics lessons and practical workplace training.
