Amadu Jorge

Jorge teaches children through simple technical steps, introductions and everyday responsibilities.

Biography

Amadu Jorge began Brazilian jiu-jitsu at fourteen, according to his Growing Little Humans biography. UAEStories’ April 2025 profile describes the Belo Horizonte native as a business graduate and a black belt under Joaquim “Mamute” Ferreira. It credits him with six years of teaching in the UAE at that point. That profile distinguishes Nest’s establishment in 2014 from its launch in 2020. It describes age-grouped children’s classes, training with and without the gi uniform, competition preparation and private lessons covering fundamentals or advanced techniques. In the published March 2025 Growing Little Humans conversation, Jorge describes explaining a technique differently to a small child and a teenager. For younger children, he reduces it to three actions before refining detail. He also has children introduce themselves and shake hands. He asks children to pack and carry their own kit and put schoolwork before training. Parents, he argues, should support the learning process after both victory and defeat. A contributed Seychelles Nation report from April 2023 describes his work at a two-day Mahé Martial Arts seminar. He also refereed the gi competition at the Roche Caïman dojo; the event included grading. Eight Seychelles juniors trained with Jorge in Abu Dhabi in March 2025, Nation reported. A contributed report that October linked Nest’s leader with Mahé Martial Arts through coach Vivian Hoareau and pupil Shane Chang-Seng. URBN identifies its BJJ coach Archie as a student of Jorge at Nest in Abu Dhabi.
