Alexis “El Príncipe” Sánchez won a CVBJJ black-belt gi title in 2022 and returned as defending champion for a 2023 final.

Biography

Alexis Sánchez, known as El Príncipe, competed as a black belt in Venezuela's Circuito Venezolano de Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Meridiano's July 2022 report identified him as the winner of the featured black-belt category at the circuit's inaugural national gi tournament, contested in the traditional training uniform. The event in Chacao brought together more than 24 academies, with competition for children and adults. Circuit director Cristian Silva described its purpose as giving local athletes experience they could use in pursuing international championships. Sánchez's own response to winning focused on the people behind his preparation. He thanked the organisers, his coach and his team, saying they had prepared extensively and faced strong competitors. The circuit's public ranking also associates him with Preta jiu jitsu in the adult black-belt category. He returned to a CVBJJ final as defending champion in the tournament reported by Socialité360 in March 2023. This time the report identifies the division as black-belt absolute, the open-weight category. At Caracas's Papá Carrillo gym in Parque Miranda, he faced Adolfo Suárez for the title. Suárez won the final 9–0.
