Alexandru Tuzlucov

A youth jiu-jitsu competitor who won European under-16 gold with a 3–0 final in 2024.

Biography

Alexandru Tuzlucov’s account of winning BJJ gold began with a defeat. Interviewed in December 2022, he recalled losing his opening contest on the previous year’s trip. He believed that experience helped him return better prepared and take first place. Born in 2010, Alexandru Tuzlucov trained with CS Wolfpack in Cahul under Mircea Bragagiu. Moldova’s 2023 national squad list places him in the junior group and records that coaching connection. He was already a gold medallist in 2021. Reporting on the TMS Ukrainian Championship in Zaporizhzhia that September, Ziua de Azi named him among Cahul’s winners. Bragagiu’s thanks went beyond the competitors to those who had given their time to help the team. Wolfpack’s description of its 2022 programme gives a picture of the environment around him. Work on fundamentals accompanied daily sessions, four seminars and joint training with other Moldovan clubs. The academy also organised ten days of summer training in Bulgaria and five-day autumn and winter camps in Cahul. Development extended to the coaches, whose weekly lessons combined theory and practice. His domestic youth results during this period included the July 2022 ADCC Moldova Summer Cup, where Wolfpack’s Tuzlucov was listed first in two under-40 kg groups, labelled 2010–2011 and 2008–2009. The following February, ADCC Moldova Kids and Juniors International recorded another first place: boys’ intermediate under-45 kg, for the 2009–2010 group. International competition continued to feature in the Cahul team’s reporting. In November 2023, Ziua de Azi described Tuzlucov among Bragagiu’s juniors in Abu Dhabi and credited him with a second consecutive world-title success in that youth setting. The next year also brought a place on Wolfpack’s young NAGA Brussels team. In its March 2024 account, the academy stressed that strong, hardworking opponents demanded further preparation. Its acknowledgements included both the children and their parents, presenting the team’s progress as a shared undertaking. In April 2024, Tuzlucov won European gold in Romania in ne-waza, the ground-fighting discipline of jiu-jitsu. The under-16 male under-52 kg draw records him representing the Moldovan Jiu-Jitsu Federation and defeating Ukraine’s Oleksandr Chebanov 3–0 in the final. Bragagiu said the team’s results gave him motivation to continue and thanked the parents whose support had helped make them possible. On 2 January 2025, a Moldovan ministry order awarded Tuzlucov the national sporting category Candidate Master of Sport in jiu-jitsu.
