Alan Sanchez Perez

Alan Sanchez Perez is a 10th Planet black belt who won the 2019 IBJJF no-gi brown-belt middleweight world title and EBI 19's 170-pound tournament.

Biography

Alan Sanchez Perez, listed under the United States by the Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation, is a 10th Planet black belt and San Jose instructor who won the 2019 IBJJF no-gi world title at brown-belt middleweight and EBI 19's 170-pound tournament. IBJJF results supply much of the competition chronology below. His academy's account, reproduced in Adisa Banjoko's profile, says he began training in 2014 after watching the UFC. He became 10th Planet San Mateo's first blue belt and started teaching a morning class there in 2016. The San Jose academy identifies Adam Sachnoff as his black-belt teacher and lists Sanchez as a first-degree black belt. FloGrappling describes him as a 10th Planet black belt under Eddie Bravo and dates his promotion to December 2019. In IBJJF no-gi competition, Sanchez Perez won the blue-belt middleweight division at the 2016 San Jose Open. He won the purple-belt middleweight divisions at the 2017 San Jose, Spanish National and British National events. At brown belt, he took third in middleweight at the 2018 No-Gi Worlds, then won that division in 2019. His black-belt results include second place in middleweight at the 2021 Boise and Austin No-Gi Opens and second in the open class at the 2021 American National No-Gi Championship. He was second at the 2023 Santa Cruz No-Gi Open, won medium heavy and placed second in the open class at the 2024 San Jose Spring No-Gi Open, and won both divisions at the 2025 Sacramento Fall No-Gi Open. Separately from those IBJJF events, Sanchez won EBI 19's 170-pound tournament in March 2022, defeating Oliver Taza in the final.
