Ajmal Bhojul

Ajmal Bhojul teaches jiu-jitsu at Brisée-Verdière BJJ Club in Mauritius.

Biography

The Mauritius federation’s January 2025 academy register names Ajmal Bhojul as the instructor responsible for Brisée-Verdière BJJ Club in Flacq. He began karate at seven and BJJ at fifteen. Teacher Shaheen Jaunbocus introduced him to her husband Tawfiq for a school demonstration. He called Tawfiq a father figure; Bhojul reached Médine training by bus or bicycle. Competition brought contrasting outcomes in May 2024. AJP’s national championship report described two finals against Abdul Ramzan, a fellow Mauritius Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy brown belt. Ramzan submitted Bhojul in their 85kg gi final, contested in the training jacket. In the no-gi rematch, without that jacket, Bhojul won by referee decision after neither regulation nor golden-point overtime produced a score. The Special Mobile Force officer sold his Toyota Premio to fund his 2026 Japan trip; his family then relied on buses and relatives. At SJJIF’s 2026 Worlds, in brown-belt Master 30 age divisions, he won no-gi open gold, medium-heavy silver in both formats and gi open bronze. In September 2026, he described teaching about fifteen youths twice weekly: sharing learning, values and structure. He credited family and employer support, valued faith and helping local families, and planned BJJ and MMA competition.
