Ahmed Al Jehani

Ahmed Al Jehani valued learning different jiu-jitsu approaches through competition as he prepared for the 2023 Asian Games.

Biography

In March 2023, coach Ismael Bass described Ahmed Al Jehani as a hardworking jiu-jitsu student progressing through competition. At Al Ahli’s Last Challenge event that month, Al Jehani joined superfights against experienced opponents to prepare for the Asian Games. QNA reported that he won gold and silver at the AJP Egypt National championship in Cairo that March. Al Watan subsequently reported open-weight gold and an 82 kg silver at Kuwait’s Ground Control event in May. He said competing there gave him another opportunity to encounter different approaches to jiu-jitsu. In August, he described a different outcome in Amman, where he earned two silvers. In a Qatar Olympic Committee report, he said both finals finished level before referee decisions went against him. He credited his preparation, coach Ismail and Qatar’s sporting institutions, and regarded the competition as useful experience before the Games. His Asian Games campaign ended in the round of 32 against Azambek Shamshiev, according to Lusail’s 7 October 2023 report.
