Ahmad Khafizulrahman

Ahmad Khafizulrahman built a training community in Kuching and helped bring jiu-jitsu to a wider public.

Biography

Ahmad Khafizulrahman helped turn daily training among friends at his home into Tempur Jarak Dekat (TJD), a registered mixed martial arts club in Matang Jaya, Kuching. In an October 2025 Sarawak Tribune interview, its president described a place where people from different backgrounds trained after work. He also competed. In May 2025, the newspaper reported a TJD statement crediting him with gold and a performance bonus at the amateur Rage MMA Season 2 Grand Final in Kuala Lumpur. SAPro Consulting sponsored the team’s participation. Ahmad’s own reaction focused on learning: the fight had shown him aspects of his game that needed attention. Jiu-jitsu formed part of the club’s public outreach. In July 2025, as TJD’s president, Ahmad helped organize a programme of aerobics, karate and jiu-jitsu demonstrations at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak. He wanted the event to build interest and support for the sports. Keeping that community active required shared resources. Travel to competitions was expensive, so members contributed what they could. Ahmad described the gym as a place where he learned patience and discipline himself. He hoped to extend those opportunities to more young people over the following five to ten years.
