Adriano da Silva Moraes

Brazilian Team Constrictor black belt Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes built an MMA career on grappling and became ONE's inaugural flyweight champion.

Biography

Brazil's Adriano da Silva Moraes is a Team Constrictor black belt, nicknamed Mikinho, whose grappling carried him to ONE's first flyweight world championship. Most of this profile's source material comes from ONE Championship, and the promotion's current page identifies Moraes as a former athlete. He began jiu-jitsu at sixteen and later trained at Erick Medeiros's academy, part of Ataíde Junior's Team Constrictor. Moraes moved into mixed martial arts and made his professional debut in 2011. In 2014, he won the NAGA No-Gi Pro Division Championship. That September, he submitted Geje Eustaquio with a second-round guillotine to become the inaugural ONE Flyweight World Champion. Medeiros and Ataíde Junior promoted him to black belt on March 6, 2015. He had therefore won a ONE world title before receiving his black belt, while the grappling developed at Constrictor remained central after his transition to MMA. By January 2019, he had recorded six submission wins in ONE. His current ONE record stands at 11 wins, including seven submissions, across 17 bouts. In a ONE Championship interview published on January 12, 2019, Moraes described Instituto Arte Suave in Brasília as his community project, using jiu-jitsu to support children's education, attitudes, and responsibility.
