Abdelaziz Al Mohannadi

Qatari grappler Abdelaziz Al Mohannadi described year-round preparation as he pursued international jiu-jitsu competition.

Biography

Abdelaziz Al Mohannadi is a Qatari jiu-jitsu competitor who found in grappling a sense of continuing progress after trying other combat sports, including boxing. Speaking to Al Sharq in October 2022, he described three years of development and recalled gold medals in Jordan and Europe. At the time he trained at Vision club. His preparation ran throughout the year, combining daily practice with attention to diet. He distinguished learning for recreation from preparing to compete: the latter required a more demanding commitment. His next ambition was a world title at a tournament that November. Competing at home had a particular meaning for him. Al Sharq reported his Super Fight gold at a Doha tournament later that October. He described the medal as encouragement to improve at future events and thanked the committee and organizers for their work. In March 2023, a QNA report carried by Gulf Times placed him in Qatar’s delegation at the AJP tournament in Cairo. It reported an under-77-kilogram silver medal during the team’s preparations for the Asian Games.
